Welcome to villa Gaia in the village of Skouloufia. This traditional Cretan style stone house is situated in a quiet area in the village Skouloufia 18km from Rethymno. The villa is built in one floor layout. There is a big yard with swimming pool, barbeque area and private parking. The house has a large veranda with dining table and pergola. Ideally suitable for 5 persons there are three bedrooms in this Villa, all with view to the sea – one with double bed and terrace, one with semi-double bed and terrace and one with twin beds.

    In the house, there are 3 bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with 2 single beds and one with 1 single bed. There is an optional baby cot, which is placed in the bedroom with the double bed.All of the rooms are air-conditioned, with a separate device for each room.

    There is a bathroom/wc with jacuzzi in the house, which also includes a laundry machine. Towels, soap and laundry powder are provided.


Description of Gaia Villa Traditional

Villa Gaia is a traditional stone built house, recently renovated (2008), located in a quiet area in the village Skouloufia, 18km away from Rethymno. The villa is built in one floor layout. On the exterior of the house, there is a big yard with a 25sqm swimming pool with sunchairs and umbrellas around it , a stone made barbecue and a garden. There is also a large veranda with a dining table covered by a pergola. The house has a spectacular view to the sea and the surrounding area, which the visitor can enjoy from the yard.

Ideally suitable for 5 people, there are three bedrooms in the Villa, all with view to the sea – one with double bed and terrace, one with semi-double bed and terrace and one with twin beds. A baby cot is also provided to the guests.

The house has a spacious dining and living room, traditionally decorated, with a fireplace and a smart satellite TV with a Blueray player and an open plan fully equipped kitchen. There is also one bathroom with W/C, and hydro massage bath.

All of the rooms are fully air conditioned. The combination of the air conditioning, the fireplace and the sun heating makes the house suitable for all the seasons of the year.

There are many villages with tavernas, mini markets and pharmacies nearby, as well as many historical sightseeing like the Arkadi monastery (8kms away) and the ancient Eleytherna (7kms away). The nearest beach is only 6 km away from the villa, in the village Stavromenos.

The villa is spacious with 4 bedrooms which cover the needs of 8 people. In the outside space, there is a 25sqm pool with sun chairs and umbrellas and a barbecue. The villa has 4 verandas and a spectacular view to the sea, the countryside and the town of Rethymno, but also to the mountain Psiloritis. It is remote and quiet, but also near many villages and the town. As a result, all the needed facilities like restaurants, super markets, gas stations and farmacies are provided very close to the house. The main road from Chania to Heraklion is only 6 kms away, so every city and many sightseeings of the island are easily accessible. The villa is near important sight seeings like the Arcadi Monastery and the ancient city of Eleytherna, and the museum of the Ancient Eleytherna. Villa Gaia Modern is ideal for families and companies who would like to experience the Cretan village life, without being away from the modern life facilities.

Villa Gaia Modern is a brand-new house built in 2018. The villa is suitable both for​ families and groups of people who want to have unforgettable​ vacations in Crete. It is situated in a quiet area in the village Skouloufia, 18km away from Rethymno. The villa is built in two floors layout. It has two yards, a barbecue area and a private parking. The house has four verandas overall, one of them in front of the pool, where the guests can relax and enjoy their food or drink along with the beautiful view to the sea and the town of Rethymno, but also to the countryside and the mountain Psiloritis. It is suitable for up to 8 people. There are four bedrooms, all with ​view to the sea.​ Two of the bedrooms have double​ beds and the other two have two twin beds each. All of the bedrooms have access to the verandas. There is also a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious​ dining and living room with fireplace and a smart Sat-TV. The house has two bathrooms, one of them equipped with a jacuzzi​. Around the villa, there are many villages with tavernas, mini markets, gas stations and pharmacies nearby, as well as many historical sightseeings like the Arcadi Monastery and the archaeological site and the museum of the Ancient Eleytherna. The nearest beach is only 6 km away from the villa and the city of Rethymno is only 18kms away.

Moni ArkadiouA historic monastery

The Monastery of Arkadi is a historic monastery in Crete. According to tradition it was founded by Emperor Heraklion and rebuilt around the 5th century by the Byzantine Emperor Arcadius, whose name bears his honor. Others said it was founded by a monk who is named Arcadius and therefore monastery is calles Arkadi.Remains of the first monastery have been preserved in the northwestern part of the enclosure. The most important part of Arkadi Monastery is the central two-aisled church , the Catholicon , which is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior ( one aisle ) , and the Saints Constantine and Helen ( the other aisle ) , surrounded by very thick yard walls in which there various auxiliary buildings . The Turkish yoke in Crete count already two hundred and fifty years when - after ongoing uprisings - Cretan rebels began to gather in Arkadi from March 3, 1866 . The attack began on 8 November 1866. In the monastery there were 964 souls , 325 men and the rest women and children.

Ancient Eleftherna is situated about 18 km of Melidoni. Thousands findings , which are unimpeachable witnesses of the history of Eleftherna , have come from the three major , systematic excavations of the University of Crete. And about 500 of them were selected to set up the exhibition " Eleftherna : City - Acropolis - Necropolis " launched at the Cycladic Art Museum in Athens in December 2004. Ancient Eleftherna was visited to the public in 2008 while the excavation is continued with significant findings.
